It may seem an unlikely combination, but Premier League footballer Ashley Cole has held a meeting with US rap mogul Jay-Z about getting into the music business.

Cole, who plays for Chelsea, doesn’t want to follow in the footsteps of his estranged wife and former Girls Aloud singer, Cheryl Cole, by launching his own pop career.

But he did fly to New York to speak to Jay-Z – husband of superstar Beyoncé and one of the States’ richest rap stars – about launching his own management company.

He visited Roc Nation – Jay-Z’s management firm – to discuss strategy and get insider tips during a tour of the US.

Other Premier League stars have tried to launch their own labels too – Rio Ferdinand has signed up two acts to his. And footballers like Glenn Hoddle, Chris Waddle and Gazza have all released singles in the past.

Beyonce and Jay-Z split?

The internet is currently rife with speculation that Beyonce and Jay-Z have separated, according to a report on voice-online.co.uk.

Reasons for the separation have been attributed to the couple wanting different things and as a result have entered a ‘trial separation’.

It is thought that the Empire State of Mind rapper, Jay-Z, wants to start a family, while Beyonce wants to continue concentrating on her career.

Speaking to MediaTakeOut.com, a source said: “The biggest thing (they argue about) is about the kids, (Jay-Z) wants them and Beyonce doesn’t. It’s all about her career and she doesn’t want to slow down.”

Reports that Jay-Z has bought a mansion in L.A. have only added to speculation that all may not be well between the megastar couple.

The unnamed source added: “For now (Jay-Z’s) going to be staying in L.A. Beyonce will be in NY. The hop is that with the time apart, the couple will decide to either have kids, or go their separate ways.”

The couple have been married approaching three years, having wedded in April 2008.

World famour rapper Jay-Z is a master of the lyrics. He has recently has his first book published, titled ‘Decoded’ .

Jay-Z was well aware that his fans would like to be able to purchase the book in both a hard copy and an electronic version. His team have created an app that will work on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

If you’ve already purchased the book, it could be worth buying the app aswell. The ‘Decoded’ app will feature interactive lyric displays, excerpts from the book and even previously unseen interviews with the rapper.

If his press tour around the book’s release was any indication, these sorts of interviews are Jay-Z at his most honest, personal and frank.

The app will cost around £20, but you can buy a basic version for half that price. This one allows you to choose your 10 favorite Jay-Z songs (from a pre-selected pool) to be decoded and analyzed as you see fit. A novel idea, this gives you the power to choose what tracks you want the book to cover and discard the rest.
